SPRINGFIELD---Sunday afternoon, shortly after 1 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a motorcycle crash on LA 42 at Pardue Road in Livingston Parish.
The crash ultimately claimed the life of 51-year-old Salvatore Caserta Jr. of Maurepas.
The initial investigation revealed that Caserta was driving a 2016 Indian Scout motorcycle headed west on LA 42. For reasons still being investigated, Caserta lost control of the motorcycle and exited the roadway to the right. As a result, Caserta was ejected from the motorcycle.
Despite wearing an DOT approved helmet, Caserta sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Caserta and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
