Jerry Steven Hayes Sr.

Jerry Steven Hayes Sr., age 72, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, passed away on

March 14, 2023. He was born in Independence, Louisiana to Jim Moore Hayes Sr. and Carmele Jessie Lee Bankston Hayes. Jerry spent most of his life in Tickfaw and graduated from Independence High School. He worked as a plant operator and later became a truck driver, which he did until his retirement. Jerry was also an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time in the woods. Jerry had a complex relationship with those around him and was not always the easiest person to get along with. However, he deeply loved his family.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin John Schmitt and his wife Angela and their children, Joshua, Tyler, Chelsea, Kellie, and Kaitlyn; Jerry Steven Hayes Jr. and his wife Shannon, his grandchildren Shayne Largent, Christopher Ciampa, Jacob Hayes, Landon Hayes, Jayden BB Hayes and great grandson, Rylen James Largent; daughter, Jodi Lynn Hayes Hoyt and her Husband Wallace Hoyt, their children Beverly Hoyt, Bethany Hoyt , Danuel Hoyt , and a great grandson, Hayes Hoyt (on the way); siblings, Benny Hayes Sr., John Hayes Sr., Jessie Hayes, David Hayes, Bill Hayes, and Mark Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Jean Blount Hayes; father, Jim Moore Hayes Sr. and mother, Carmele Bankston Hayes; brothers, Jim Hayes Jr., Ray Hayes Sr., and Travis Hayes.

He wanted Aunt Joan to know he don’t drag his feet and walk slow no mo.

Jerry will be remembered by those who knew him as a man who lived

life on his own terms.

Rest in peace, Jerry. You will be missed by your family and all who

knew you.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70403 on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Bro. Brandon Partin will officiate.
