This Week in Southeastern Athletics: Week of May 22-28, 2023

HAMMOND, La. – Eight members of the Southeastern Louisiana University track and field program will compete in the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East First Round during this week in Southeastern Athletics.

The East Round will run Wednesday through Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida. Terrell Webb will be the first Southeastern student-athlete to compete at the event, participating in the hammer throw Wednesday at 9 a.m. Also competing on Wednesday will be Eugene Omalla (400 meters, 6:25 p.m.), Javon-Taye Williams (800 meters, 6:50 p.m.) and Agerian Jackson (400 meter hurdles, 7:20 p.m.).

Slavko Stevic opens the day’s action Friday, representing SLU in the high jump at 1:30 p.m. Should they qualify Wednesday, Omalla (5:50 p.m.), Williams (6:05 p.m.) and Jackson (6:25 p.m.) will all compete in the next round of their respective events Friday. The speedy Lion trio will team with Jaimie Omalla in Friday’s 4x400-meter relay to close the day at 7:45 p.m.

The Lady Lions will get into the act Saturday. Kristian Jackson represents SLU in the discus at noon, while teammate Katrine Olsen battles the field in the high jump at 1:30 p.m.

The top 12 finishers in each event at the East First Round will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, scheduled for June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
